While the Chemdog D and Chemdog 91 (AKA Skunk VA cut) are the two Chems most folks think of when choosing their favorite Chemdog smoke, the #4 is only barely in third place in the rankings of most experienced smokers. The Chem D is a paragon of stinking stench and a soaring, heavy high... The Chem 91 (Skunk VA cut) is a paragon of potency and earthy, diesely flavors... But the Chem 4 is not like the other two in many ways. The smell on the #4 is a relatively mellow, but rich aroma of citrus and earthiness. The citrus is NOT a sharp, well-defined "citrus", it's more of a subdued/background hint of some sort of citrus.The main reason Chem 4 isn't more available to the market is that it quickly turns a golden color after drying and curing. There are a lot of uneducated smokers out there who see the golden color as a turn-off because it looks old and stale. Let them languish in their ignorance. lol
